If you are familiar with the online gaming market in Singapore, you know that there are only a few forms of entertainment you can enjoy in this Singapore legally. One of them is Singapore 4D, a lottery-like game provided by the state-owned operator Singapore Pools.

4D bets have been sold since May 1986. It was a modern computerized gaming system at the time of its launch and utilizing technology was a key milestone for the operator. Since April 1993, the 4D draw has been tied to the Singapore Sweep draw. That’s why, besides regular 4D draws, 4D winning numbers are reflected as the last four digits of the top winning number combinations of the Singapore Sweep draw every first Wednesday of the month.

Now that you have learned more about the history of Singapore 4D, let’s learn more about the game basics, gameplay and how to make the most of playing it.

Singapore 4D Rules and Gameplay

Lotteries are simple games to play as they all come down to matching the numbers on the ticket you purchase with the drawn ones. The principle behind 4D is similar, with the player choosing a 4-digit number containing numbers from 0000 to 9999. To win, the 4-digit number the player has selected must match one or more drawn 4-digit numbers.

In each 4D draw, there are 23 prizes, including the first, second, and the third prize and 10 starter and consolation prizes. To understand what you can win, you should know that there are two types of ordinary tickets – Big and Small. The first prize on the Big-ticket is $2,000 while the same prize on the Small ticket is $3,000. We will discuss other prizes later in the text. How to Play Singapore 4D

You can play 4D through the week with the draws taking place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 6.30 pm. To play it, you need to buy a ticket worth at least $1 and select one of the bets with a four-digit number from 0000 to 9999. That’s all you need to do and the rest is all about the draw. Tickets are available at outlets across Singapore or online if you have a Singapore Pools Account. In this case, you can also buy the ticket by phone.

Now, when it comes to playing 4D online, don’t let all the options overwhelm you. First of all, you will need to set up an account on the Singapore Pools website. Once you have created it, you need to choose one of the four betting options from the drop-down menu on the lottery homepage. They include Ordinary, System Entry, iBet, and 4D Roll. The minimum stake is the same as when you buy a ticket at an outlet, so you need to wager at least $1 if you want to play the game.

You must enter boards of the same bet type on one page and select the draw days. There are multiple choices to opt for, including a single draw, draws on all three days – Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, two non-consecutive draws, or six consecutive draws with the current one included. If you choose to play the 4D Roll bet, you can go for a single draw only.

The Raffle

Now that you have chosen draws and days, you can enter the numbers you want to wager on and whether you will play the Big and/or Small Ordinary bet. The numbers can be generated at random as well. For System Entry and iBet, you should also enter four digits. If you opt for 4D Roll, you need to enter three numbers and one R, which stands for a rolling number. Up to 10 boards can be added each time.

When you finish adding boards, you need to click on the Add to Bet Slip button to line up bets and check whether your bet slip reflects your wagers accurately. If it does, push the Place Bet and Accept button to confirm your bet.

4D Bets and House Edge Explained

So, let’s discuss the betting options available in Singapore 4D. We have four bets in total with three of them requiring you to select four digits in a sequence. They are Ordinary, System and iBet. The Ordinary bet wins when the sequence of numbers is the same as the winning number, with digits in the same order. The System bet wins when all four digits match but not necessarily in the same order and the iBet wager wins under the same conditions, yet the price is lower.
As for the 4D Roll bet, you will select three digits and one rolling number that can represent any number from 0 to 9. To win on this one, your numbers have to match the winning number in the same order. However, the lowest stake you can make with 4D Roll is $10.

Now, the probability of winning for each 4-digit number in the right order is 1 in 10,000. A total of 23 sets of numbers will be drawn and the same number of prizes will be awarded. So, the probability of winnings any of the prizes is 23 in 10,000. Consolation prizes for Big bets are $60 each, which is the lowest value. The next one is the Starter prize that is $250 on the Big bet while the first, second and third prize are $2,000, $1,000 and $490, respectively. As for the Small type of bet, if you go for it, you can win only the first, second or third prize worth $3,000, $2,000 and $800, respectively.

Singapore 4D Winning Strategy – Is There One and Can You Rely on It?

As you can see, Singapore 4D is a game based on sheer luck. It is a classic lottery-like game where you are free to choose your lucky numbers, but in most cases, you will have to pick them to match the drawn sequence of numbers in the exact order. While you can play the game at $1 only, you can also increase your stake by playing more than one combination, but your odds will improve slightly.

The truth is that there is no strategy that can help you win 4D. Play it for fun, and if you get lucky, good for you! However, we would suggest that you keep an eye on your budget and don’t risk more than you can afford. While the 4D Roll bet may seem like the best option because the fourth number acts as a joker, it will cost you $10, so play responsibly.

Closing Thoughts

Singapore 4D is all about moderation, just like other lottery-like and luck-based games. Playing it is an entertaining pastime activity as long as you manage your money properly. While we cannot help you beat the game, we can help you enjoy it without feeling guilty about it. And to enjoy the guilt-free gaming experience, you need to act responsibly and don’t risk the money you cannot afford to lose.

FAQs

While the odds of winning at 4D are higher than in some other lottery-like games, whether you will win at it or not depends solely on luck, so we cannot share any tips that can help you beat it. The only way to beat the game of 4D would be to bet on as many different 4-digit numbers as possible, but it would be extremely irresponsible behavior.

Each number sequence has the probability of winning of 1 in 10,000. Since 23 sets of numbers are drawn per event, the probability of winning one of the prizes is 23 in 10,000.

There are two main types of bets – Big and Small – and you can choose them for the following bets: Ordinary, System Entry, iBet and 4D Roll.

You can play 4D online or buy tickets at local outlets. Draws take place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Singapore 4D is a game based on chance where winning numbers are drawn completely at random.
